Tytuł może wydawać się opisowy, ale nie jest jedynie zaznaczeniem obecności niektórych prac na wystawie. „Tapestry or Fountains, I Never Lie” to anagram, skonstruowany z tytułu poprzedniej wspólnej wystawy Dico i Mathijsa. Niemniej jednak poprzez „I Never Lie” temat prawdy jest jaskrawo zarysowany. Oczywiście zdajemy sobie sprawę, że czyniąc takie oświadczenie pewnie spotkamy się z pewną podejrzliwością. Tak być powinno.

W najniższym punkcie miasta (spływa tutaj cała woda) leży Łódzka Oczyszczalnia Ścieków. Miliony litrów zanieczyszczonej wody będzie tu oczyszczonych zanim trafi do rzeki. Poprzez stanowiska obcinarek, filtrów i mikro filtrów ścieki docierają do wielkich basenów, gdzie bakterie rozkładają ostatnie ich części. Bakterie są odżywiane tlenem który jest bez przerwy wpompowywany do basenów. Widzieliśmy brązową maź, unosząca się nad instrumentami oczyszczalni. Produktem końcowym jest czysta woda, o lekko różowym zabarwieniu. „To nie problem, woda spełnia wszystkie ustawowe wymagania”

Tapestry or Fountains, I Never Lie przeobraziła się w wystawę opowiadającą o śladach transformacji. Rzeźby, rysunki, tekst i czcionki zainstalowaliśmy tak w galerii jak i pobliskiej przestrzeni publicznej. Z wielką dbałością stworzyliśmy prace z podstawowych materiałów budowlanych i jeszcze raz wykorzystanych przedmiotów życia codziennego. Zawarliśmy w wystawie również temat języka jako autonomicznego ciała, potrafiącego się samoczynnie korygować i przybierać kształty niedostępne interakcjom.

Mathijs van Geest (1985) żyje i pracuje w Bergen w Norwegii. Descriptive as it may seem, the title of the exhibition does not simply state the presence of certain works presented in the show. Tapestry of Fountains, I Never Lie is anagram, constructed from the title of the precious collaborative exhibition by Dico Kruijse and Mathijs van Geest. Never the less, by 'I Never Lie' the subject of truth is clearly introduced. Off course, whgen making such statements, an artist is to be treated with suspicion.

At lowest point of the city (all water flows to here) lays the water purification centre of Łódź. Milions of litres of wast – and polluted water is to be cleaned before it enters the river. Through stations of cut-outs, filters and micro filters it arrives in big pools where bacterias break down the final bits of waste. The bacterias in the water are fed with oxygen which is pumped into the pools continuously. What we see is brown matter, floating on the water services. The outcome is clean water, it looks slightly pink – a result from the painting factory nearby. 'But it's no problem, the water passes regulations'.

Tapestry or Fountains, I Never Lie grew into an exhibition about gestures of transformation. Sculptures, drawings, tekst and letters ate installed through in the room and continue in the public domain outside the gallery space. With great care the artists created works constructed from basic building materials and reused objects from everyday life. The subject of language is included as an autonomus body, able to correct and give shape beyond interaction.

Mathijs van Geest (1985) lives and works in Bergen, Norway.
